I was born in England, and lived most of my life in Australia before returning to the UK a few years ago my dual nationality means that I am often a bit too cheeky, but will always apologise for it.I have been writing fiction for almost thirty years, mostly for the enjoyment of myself and my friends, but writing is my love and my vocation so of course that s where my dreams and ambitions are.In the meantime, technical writing helps to pay the mortgage, while I also have fun with web design, photography, reading, watching movies and television, knitting, and imbibing espresso.

I am a big Julie Bozza fan I ve had the pleasure of meeting her in person on a number of occasions and she is delightful I m also a big fan of her books that I ve read in the past I admire how she is really creative in her plots from magical butterfiles to pro wrestlers.I wanted to say all of that because, well, 1 it s true and 2 I needed to soften the blow.I did NOT like Mitch Rebecki Gets a Life In fact, I m quite confused by it With a talented author and a promising blurb, how could it have g [...]

This is Bozza s ode to smoking and coffee Although I could recognise her hand in the writing, I did not enjoy this as I did other works of hers Both the story and the characters seemed a bit unfocused, disjointed I was left wondering what this was about Mitch was a tight assed grouch and I thought this was going to be his metamorphosis but although his ass relaxed a bit, that was it Rory remained on his pedestal for me, I could feel the loneliness but I could not touch Cody I was a great big que [...]

I m so disappointed I was really looking forward to reading this but ended up not enjoying it It started good but soon enough I began to wonder what the book was about I felt like either I was reading a draft or half of the book had been cut out and what remained were the chopped pieces of a story that could have been good That, or I really, really failed to see what the book wanted to show me.Yes, Mitch does get a life while in the beginning of the story his cork board only had his newspaper ar [...]

I really liked this It is very different to the other books I have read from Julie I can t really describe it as romantic and it isn t a heart racing thriller There is some crime detection involved but it feels almost secondary to the main story. If I had to describe this story I would call it slice of life a story telling technique that presents a seemingly arbitrary sample of a character s life Although I don t think this sample of Mitch s life could be described as arbitrary.Another way of des [...]

Perhaps 3.5 starsI read it in record time, so there is something with this book The writing is very good as it got me to read on although there were some things that were annoying getting on my nerves Yes, I was not a fan of all this smoking having been a smoker myself ages ago, yes we are the worst kind but what was far irritating was the feeling of just being told parts of the story I couldn t grasp what was behind the development with Cory, yes I m stupid like that And I felt the most import [...]

I feel the most important thing to say upfront about this book is that it s not a traditional M M romance It s there but really only plays a very minor background role in the overall story Knowing this beforehand then you can sit back and enjoy the story for what it is a story about investigative journalism and how Mitch has a nose for digging up the dirt on people no matter where he lands up.This is what intrigued me and I have now read a number of books where the MC s are gay but that s it the [...]

I m sorry but it didn t work for me I love her Butterfly Hunter series to pieces, but this just missed my heart strings I couldn t connect with Mitch, the story or its happenings.

Mitch was brash and inquisitive, but he s alright, and I enjoyed his adventure in Down Under I also liked the people around him and I couldn t understand why the author view spoiler killed hide spoiler one of them needlessly Seriously, that side plot lowered the rating of this story.Romance was very very mild and on the background, but I was okay with it since Mitch view spoiler got the handsome architect hide spoiler iamsoshallow LOL I don t really understand the police procedure in Australia, [...]

I received this book for free through First Reads I really don t like to leave bad reviews, especially for books I ve won But it s hard to find anything good to say about this one I was so bored by it The storyline is shallow, disjointed, ho hum.with minimal depth or plot development and maximum predictability The characters are also shallow and poorly developed the term stick figures comes to mind In fact, Mitch Rebecki is the only persona in the story who is given much but not THAT much of a p [...]

    Love Bytes Reviews
3.5 heart review by DanWarning This book contains a suicide of a main supporting character, that doesn t have any resolution as far as I was concerned Having lost a cousin to suicide and served on the Board of a local Suicide Prevention Group, I know that we don t always know why someone completes suicide, but, in my personal opinion, I felt in this book that the subject of the suicide was dropped too quickly.Mitch Rebecki has been spending a lot of time investigating a mobster in New York More [...]

I have truly enjoyed other Julie Bozza s book but I ve no idea what happened here Mitchel, the main character, is as bland as a cardboard I was hoping she d develop him later on in the story but nada No way He didn t change All he did was quit his chain smoking which happened in nearly every page of the story I still have no idea why Cody, his female friend, killed herself Sorry, but this one was not for me.

I really liked the parts about Mitch and Rory, there should ve been of that I feel there s room for character development so I really really hope this won t be a standalone The style was as always enjoyable but I found some bits in the investigation which was the main part of the story a tad hard to believe Maybe it s because things progressed so fast Overall I wish the book was longer, and fingers crossed there ll be a sequel

I liked it, but there were some aspects that I didn t grasp For ex what s behind Cody choice Honestly I don t see an explanation in the book I saw a character s development for Mitch, but not for Cody or for Rory Rory is also a bit of a mystery, we don t know that much about him, about what he feels and think.Still, a good book, especially if you don t expect a classical m m romance.

4.5New author to me, and I d like to read I enjoyed the story, and the characters, and it was great to read something set in Australia A little bit of the plot one of the character arcs could have done with explanation but that was my only quibble More please.

I won this book through It s a relatively short novel that includes both m m and f m relationships but the romance is non graphic and well balanced with the main plot of a journalist who tends to poke his nose in places that will get him in trouble.

Not sure what to say about this book I really could not get into it To me it was a little disjointed and a little hard to follow It started out fine but just somehow lost me along the way.
