I got this book through First Reads. This is a very well researched excellently written book that follows a 12 year old boy as he struggles to find his role in resisting the Nazi regime in occupied France.I m usually a fan of YA historical fiction, and this novel was no exception I started reading it as soon as I got it in the mail and barely put it down until I was done.I also enjoy the addition of the glossary of terms and an index of historical figures as well as a description of how children [...]

I really enjoyed reading this novel Calkhoven does a nice job of telling the story of the French resistance through the eyes of this teenager I became engrossed with the story and Michael s efforts to save his family The story paints the struggles of the French people in their efforts to survive the war Also, there is a timeline in the back of the book that chronicles WWII for the reader.

I read this book with my 8 year old son who is fascinated by all things war related, but particularly by WWII right now It was an engaging, fast read with short chapters and good content We both got very involved in the story and stayed up late tonight to finish it I d recommend it as a good book for a younger audience, but I still enjoyed it.

I like this book for many reasons It is not just a regular book but it also gives information It doesn t just entertain but it helps you learn A boy is in the middle of the invasion of France He is trying to help his family He joins the resistance to help keep the nazis away from himself and his mom.

Calkhoven has a great way of taking the reader into history She does historical fiction really well and has a boy at the center of it We learned a lot about the French armistice with Germany and the repercussions of it She also depicted many of the brave things that the French resistance did for the allies during WWII I look forward to her writing for this series.

Excellent historical fiction for my battle mad kid The main character is believable and his adventures in occupied Paris are thrilling Be prepared to talk about the Gestapo and the deportation of the Jews, as both subjects come up frequently natch.

This was a great historical fiction based on the German invasion of France It was a great read aloud for kids, introducing what happened during World War II, and the people who resisted without being too graphic for young readers.

This is a great introduction to the French Resistance against Hitler during WWII It is perfect for children who want to learn about this time period Although fiction, it is based in fact and told in an entertaining and conversational style History comes alive

I really liked the book Very action filled There was the real world with fiction, I like the aviator Mack He was a nice guy, the very opposite of Jerry bum.

Fast paced, captivating read I am so glad they are writing such exciting historical fiction for young people to read.
